“It’s the very best honor now we have in Canadian baseball. It’s overwhelming, a little bit bit,” Martin stated earlier than the ceremony in St. Marys, Ont. “I simply assume again to the journey that baseball has introduced in my life. From a younger child, all over Little League ball, to highschool, to junior faculty, to getting drafted, to the minor leagues, to having a profession within the large leagues. Fourteen years simply went like that (snap).”
The Dodgers chosen Martin within the seventeenth spherical of the 2022 MLB Draft. By 2006, he was the beginning catcher in Los Angeles. The next season, he was named an All-Star, Silver Slugger, and have become the third catcher in franchise historical past to win a Gold Glove.
